Calling Out All GreenPill Chapters!

We are excited to invite you to join a monthly cleanup event at your location on the 22nd of each month. This day is known as Monthly Earth Day (MED) and it aims to raise awareness about environmental actions and boost coordination in real life (IRL). We encourage all GreenPill Chapters to join GreenPill Phangan in implementing a one-day cleanup in your community.

MED was initiated and boosted by Nick’s efforts: x.com

Why Would You Like It?

  • Regular cleanups conducted by Chapters will bring a new level of coordination to the Global Community. Your community will have a fixed date to engage in environmental and community efforts.
  • It’s an opportunity to exercise leadership and demonstrate the practical use of Blockchain/Web3 tools for environmental action.
  • Get rewards for your community members through platforms like DeCleanup Rewards, Cleanify, OpenLitterMap, and more.

How To Organize a Cleanup

  1. Form a Team: Gather friends, family, or a group to plan and assign roles.
  2. Pick a Location: Choose a public site like a park or river, and select a time with good daylight and comfortable weather.
  3. Recruit Volunteers: Spread the word through social media and local community channels to rally participants.
  4. Secure Supplies: Purchase equipment like trash bags and trash pickers (preferably biodegradable or sustainable materials). Coordinate with nearby cafes to provide drinks for the volunteers or buy them yourself beforehand.
  5. Execute the Cleanup: Monitor the weather, remind participants a day before, and document the event with photos. Ensure garbage is segregated during the process and collected in different bags depending on the type. Identify the nearest recycling point for plastic and arrange for its transfer if applicable.
  6. Celebrate Success: Thank participants, invite them for pizza, and share your results on social media. For best results, estimate the amount of trash collected and categorize it. Encourage participants to apply for rewards on partner platforms and guide them!
  7. Prepare for the Next Cleanup!

How To Get Rewards for Your Environmental Impact

  • Decentralized Cleanup Network Rewards: Clean up, snap a photo, and earn. Participants simply upload a photo of the cleanup result to DeCleanup.net, wait for verification, and receive their first-level NFT reward. Each cleanup allows the NFT to dynamically upgrade, increasing both in visual complexity and in levels, impact value, and points.
  • OpenLitterMap: This platform was the first real-time, open-source solution for mapping litter and plastic pollution, inspired by the OpenStreetMap community. In 2015, the founder introduced tokenomics with Littercoin, a non-tradable reward used exclusively in the climate economy. To use the platform, log in at OpenLitterMap, upload a photo, tag the litter, and earn the reward. You can also create cleanup teams for your node or chapter and earn together.
  • Cleanify: A permissionless dApp on VeChain designed for a cleaner future. To participate, simply apply on Cleanify.vet by submitting a link to your X post that includes a photo and @cleanify_vet handle. Once your post is verified, you’ll be rewarded with B3TR tokens based on the amount of trash collected. These tokens will be deposited directly into your VeChain-compatible wallet, which is automatically created upon completing the social login registration. Create group cleanups and earn rewards with photo submission and without posting on X.
  • Litter Token: Earn for each piece of plastic collected! Participants must collect 25 pieces of litter to earn 1 LTK ($1). Snap photos, note the location, and record the group size if applicable. Then, share the photos in their Discord for verification.

Let’s collaborate to make a tangible environmental impact while earning rewards. Together, we can drive meaningful change!

Warm regards, GreenPill Phangan team

This is a very good and welcoming idea! We are already planning an initiative for the Nigerian chapter called “Plastic Flywheel” We can most likely incorporate this to it also. What we were planning on using was the impact tooling called “Impact Miner” by Atlantis DAO. We will be rewarding contributors from there then using the metrics to calculate the amount of Impact created. What is earned from there will be used to reward future contributors.

Love it, thanks for sharing.

Some people in the NYC chapter are interested in a community cleanup initiative. I’ve been saving links for anything that sounds relevant/interesting and see a handful of familiar names here.

Haven’t looked into any so not an endorsement but also saved these:

That’s awesome to see you are moving towards there as well. We are too considering creating bounty at Atlantis app. But we need to wait until the mint page for DeCleanup Rewards is live, as the bounty will be to apply with proof of impact to DeCleanup.net.
Yeah and about creating common event where all the chapters can be active - great way also to grow the engagement if we all go out on x same day sharing our impact around this initiative. Having such partners too let us expect bigger rewards for the community cleanup (registered in advance on platforms mentioned) and other bonuses. And in mind contacting Regen token too for multipliers on this day, maybe @Decentralizedceo you could help me with cool proposal

NYC Precious plastic also do cleanups? Awesome
And we dream to have precious plastic center over here on Phangan

Not that I know of. Was just sharing the link because it seems like a great open-source project.

But you motivated me to look at the map and I learned NYC Precious Plastic collabs with nouns.wtf to make noggles

Wow that is awesome! Might have it on agenda too  cool web3 merch why not. We were also thinking of targeting dispensaries and create all sort of containers, joint cases, trays, jars, grinders and all.

For sure, let’s get it done!
