Building a More Regen Cote d’Ivoire Through Disruptive Technologies

This is the vision driving the Green Pill CIV local chapter. From our first in-person meeting in May this year at the VITIB (Village of Information and Biotechnology Technologies) in Grand-Bassam, we joined forces to create a regenerative and sustainable impact in Côte d’Ivoire.

While this mission is noble and ambitious, it also requires concrete contributions and strong collaborations. Throughout 2024, we focused on laying the foundation for a solid and sustainable organization.

When the “Habitants” Connect

The concept of an Internet Inhabitant originated from blog articles I write on Medium. It describes individuals who, aware of the critical role digital technology plays in our lives, use it to create positive impact.

These articles resonated with a community that identified with this idea, and we sought to mobilize these people to join our chapter.

In June, we launched the Internet Inhabitants community, centered around the triptych “Connect, Discuss, Act”. This initiative quickly gained traction through lively discussions on WhatsApp. The momentum culminated in an in-person debate at the Adama Toungara Museum in Abobo, on the theme: “What Future for the Ivorian Youth?”.

From Debates to Action

Discussion is good, but action is better, as true impact stems from concrete initiatives. Following the success of the debates, our chapter sought ways to take action.

Thanks to funding from the Regen Coordination Grant, we organized our first activity: the Green Action. This event involved a plastic waste cleanup on the beach in Grand-Bassam.

With over 30 participants, this initiative introduced our chapter and its mission to the public. Between the cleanup, a convivial barbecue, and a conference, we raised awareness about regenerative cryptoeconomics and enhanced our visibility within the Ivorian digital space.

A Second Green Action Through Partnerships

Following this initial success, we were approached by Camansa.com, a vacation rental platform, and The Sunday, one of Côte d’Ivoire’s most popular events. These partners expressed interest in collaborating with us during the cultural week named Quartier France (referring to the historical district in Grand-Bassam).

The goal of this partnership was to organize a second Green Action, again on the Grand-Bassam beach, to promote environmental conservation in the city. This time, we received financial and material support valued at $700.

A Chapter in Full Growth

All these activities have helped establish the foundation of a dynamic and committed chapter, ready to build an inclusive future for our country.

For 2025, our ambitions are clear:

  1. For the Green Pill CIV Chapter:
  • Organize regular Green Actions.
  • Host more meetups focused on ReFi (regenerative finance).
  • Execute a Green Mission to deliver significant annual impact.
  • Strengthen the involvement of active members.
  1. For the Internet habitants Community:
  • Transform the community into an independent DAO, experimenting with alternative governance models to foster active participation and amplify collective impact.
  • Evolve from a simple discussion group into a community-driven media platform capable of amplifying initiatives and driving sustainable change.

With these projects in sight, the future of our chapter holds tremendous promise for transformation and innovation.
